We’re Really Excited about this…
The Greenwood Chamber partners
with Ordinary Epics to Create a Gravel Adventure
Greenwood, MS – The Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce, host of the annual Bikes, Blues and Bayous event, has partnered with Ordinary Epics to create a new ride – this time on gravel! The 1st annual Greenwood Gravel Grind (G3) will be held on April 27th, 2019 in Greenwood, MS.
“BBB (Bikes, Blues & Bayous) grew to be Mississippi’s largest ride because we put on a well-organized event, with an emphasis on hospitality that was second to none” said Richard Beattie, BBB co-founder. ”The new G3 ride builds on those strengths and pairs the gravel roads of the neighboring Carroll County hills with our fast and flat Delta terrain.”
G3 will offer three routes – 25, 50 and 100 miles - allowing for all levels of fitness. Regardless of the distance chosen, each participant will enjoy the full experience of Greenwood hospitality and the G3 adventure. A fully supported ride, there will be aid stations stocked with food and drink provided by our sponsors, and each will be staffed with dedicated volunteers. “We’re also pleased to announce the G3 event will benefit the Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s, and all of the profit from G3 jersey sales will be donated to this worthy cause.”, said Beth Stevens, Greenwood Chamber Executive Director.
Ordinary Epics, an outdoor adventure company dedicated to helping ordinary people do epic things, is excited to bring its expertise in route building and gravel cycling to the table for G3. “We have had a great time exploring Greenwood gravel and learning the history of what’s been called, “the most southern place on earth.“, said Wendi Shearer. “The route we are creating will be fun for everyone, from the first time gravel rider to the experienced adventure cyclist. We hope to see the route ridden on a regular basis after the event!”.
